About

About Core Counselling

Hello,

I’m Jemma, the owner of Core Counselling.

As an integrative Counsellor with years of experience working with adults, young people and couples, my passion is to offer a safe, compassionate, and non judgemental space to support you through life’s challenges.

Prior to my counselling career, I worked in mental health, providing support to adults with mental health conditions such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Suicidality, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Psychosis, Severe Depression, and Anxiety. I also have a background in healthcare, having worked at Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital and in residential care homes.

These experiences have given me a strong foundation in understanding mental health from both a personal and professional perspective. I now bring that knowledge to my counselling practice, where I work flexibly with clients to meet their needs. I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, ensuring that our work together is empowering, effective, and fitting to your individual journey.

If you're looking for a supportive and experienced counsellor, I’d be honoured to walk alongside you on your path to healing and growth.

CPD

Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is an important part of my work, helping me stay up to date with new ideas, research, and ways of supporting my clients. Whether it’s through training courses, workshops, supervision, or self-reflection, CPD allows me to grow both professionally and personally. The BACP Ethical Framework encourages counsellors to keep developing their skills, ensuring we offer the best possible support. For me, it's not just a requirement, it’s something I genuinely value, as it helps me be the best counsellor I can be for my clients.

"The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change."
